January is winter in Michigan. Our average temperatures range from cold with snow, to cold without snow. The crisp white blanket we had for Christmas has gone, as are all the bright colors the season comes with. Everything is now brown, grey, black, white, or a smear of all four.

The land has been frozen for weeks, but the moss on our woodland path is thriving in the surprising milder days this week. It does not take much time, and none of my attention is required! Life springs back in the right conditions.

I am life too. I can have growth in any season as long as I am sensitive to the right conditions. It is winter, time to watch, review, and plan. I will clean out drawers and closets of old ideas. I can rewrite the chaos that comes my way into strands of gold, lining my life with glitter. Finding a magical green path through the wilderness in the dead of winter is enough to tell me. There is mystery and hidden treasure in every moment of life. Just keep your eyes open for it.

See the path, trust the path, embrace the path!
